It looks good, so good, my Too Good To Be True alarm is going off, especially considering the price.
But if your dad is as savvy about mechanicals as you are - which he probably is, you must have gotten it from somewhere - then between the two of you, you can probably figure out if its a NP or a CP, especially as your dad used to own one. Be sure to do your due diligence - PPI, "drive it like you stole it" test drive, and I'd also make a post on a 944/Porsche enthusiast website, to see what the "experts" say.

I'd have a mechanic check it out to verify the claims... but an affordable 944 with maintenance up to date... not bad for a sporty little runabout.
probably a little bit quicker than a 924 with the VW/Audi engine, (but don't expect it to be a 944 Turbo, or anything...)

I basically ignore all the stuff people say like "Garage kept, summer driven" etc. It's really not relevant. Just take it someone, get it on a life, look under it and see for yourself. Even if the car has been outside it's entire life and commuted through blizzards, if you are looking at it and it's in good shape, it obviously didn't matter because the owner cared for it.
The tune up is a good sign, but that was also in 2008, so it's 5 years old... basically time to do some of it again. My biggest concern wouldn't be at all about how much it was babied, but rather that it was babied too much. Cars do not do well when sitting most of a year for multiple years in a row.

Timing belt in 08? I'd have a mechanic check that particular bit out because that's 5 years. I haven't had my 944 that long, so I don't know the timing belt's general lifespan. But assume that belt is going to be REQUIRED to be changed.
Also, I don't use synthetic oil in mine. I was told not to. I dislike the use of synthetic in this one just based on uneducated bias. Again, consult with mechanic.
3k is on the cusp of too good to be true. Get it checked out, and if everything is good, then you have a 944 for a NP.

Double-check the belts, especially the timing belt since it's an interference engine.
Do a compression check as well.
Otherwise, looks like it's in good condition, though there might be a better deal to be had. See if you can get it for $2600.
I bought mine in pretty good shape, but it had a busted half-shaft so I couldn't test drive it. Picked it up for $1000, got the driveline fixed for free (shop owed me a favor). Sunk $2000 into it for suspension, tires, and a few other bits, then took it to the track.

The biggest issue is the pre-85.5 model year. It has the crappy steel control arms, along with a few others... gotta go outside and work on a Subie, otherwise I'd check them for you.
